On Sunday 28th September 2025, we were delighted to once again host our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning, an opportunity we take every year to come together to support a worthy cause.
With tea, coffee, cakes and a delicious cheeseboard, we invited our friends, family and members of our local community from Upper Norwood, South Norwood and Crystal Palace. It was a wonderful time of fellowship, laughter and information as we gathered to raise funds and awareness for Macmillan Cancer Support.
This event was more than just a fundraiser, it was an opportunity to share the love of Jesus in a practical and heartfelt way. The parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25–37) calls us to love our neighbours as ourselves, showing compassion to those in need.
In the UK, it’s estimated that around 3.5 million people are currently living with a cancer diagnosis and approximately one in two people will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime, meaning a significant proportion of families are impacted directly or indirectly.
Macmillan delivers vital support and services for people living with cancer at every stage of their cancer experience including the Macmillan Support Line. They are currently 98% funded by voluntary donations but with our help Macmillan can continue to provide this support.
We were delighted to welcome Yusuf Osman from the London Borough of Croydon (Liberal Democrats, Crystal Palace and Upper Norwood Ward) and honoured to have Dr. Carol Ighofose, a General Practitioner (GP), join us as a guest speaker. Dr. Carol shared important insights about cancer awareness and self-advocacy. Her clear and informative presentation helped attendees better understand what cancer is, how it develops, and what steps we can take to advocate for our health and others.
Feedback from members of The Well captured the impact of her session:

Thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone who took part, we surpassed our fundraising target of £250, raising a total of £305 for Macmillan Cancer Support! Every pound will help provide vital care, advice, and comfort for individuals and families affected by cancer.
We are deeply grateful to Dr. Carol Ighofose for her time and expertise and to everyone who attended, donated or supported. We continue to lift in prayer all those impacted by cancer, trusting God for comfort, strength and healing.
If you or someone you love is currently facing cancer and would like to be included on our prayer list, please complete our prayer form, we would be honoured to pray for you.
