Salvation is more than a theological concept. It is divine deliverance from the power of sin. The need
for salvation traces its roots back to the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, where their
disobedience to God’s command resulted in their expulsion (Genesis 3). This was the moment when
sin entered the world, bringing with it death, separation and the need for redemption.
While Genesis tells us where the fall began, it is in the book of Romans that we find the blueprint for
salvation. Here, the apostle Paul, writing to a primarily Gentile audience, unpacks the profound
truths about how humankind, through faith in Jesus Christ can be reconciled to Him and delivered
from the power of sin. Romans provides a roadmap for every believer on how to receive the gift of
salvation and live in the fullness of God’s grace.
The doctrines of salvation as revealed in Romans, contains God’s plan for humanity and what it
means for us as believers. From justification to sanctification, Paul’s letter offers a comprehensive
understanding of salvation, how it is received, how it transforms us and how it shapes our lives as
followers of Jesus Christ.
